a salad can be any combination of lettuces, fruits, vegetables, nuts, cheeses, pickles, potatoes, pastas,
meats…..there are no boundaries as to what you can and can’t mix together
to create a scrumptious salad.
The beautiful thing about salads is that it can become your complete meal any time of the
year. But on those hot, sultry summer nights, a salad full of fresh from the garden
fruits and vegetables is the perfect answer.
Salad dressings are simple and homemade is always the best choice. Our books feature so many
great salad dressings with simple ingredients from your pantry. A great salad dressing can
make even a simple salad taste out of this world!
To get your artistic juices going, I wanted to share two simple salad dressings….. you probably have all of the ingredients in your kitchen right now!
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. mayonnaise
1 pkg. ranch dressing mix
1/2 c. favorite salsa
1/2 tsp. crushed red chili
Combine buttermilk, mayonnaise and ranch dressing mix together and blend
until smooth. Fold in salsa and red chili flakes. Chill before serving.
This salad dressing would be great on a Chicken Taco Salad.

Fruit Salad Dressing/Brown Sugar Glaze
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. sour cream
Whip brown sugar and sour cream together and serve with any fruit salad.
