Typically it is a rather tough cut of meat but packed full of great flavor.
When marinated, it tenderizes this cut into a melt-in-your-mouth steak.
A good friend shared this recipe with me years ago and it
has become a family favorite.

When my married daughters were teenagers, each summer they would go away for a week to girl’s camp.  I was asked
to be in charge of a special meal on parent’s night. I choose this recipe because I could do most of the
work ahead of time and just grill the steaks on an open fire at the campgrounds. As I waited for the
coals to get ready for grilling , I washed, pricked and wrapped potatoes in foil and put them
in the open fire to cook as we grilled the Flank Steaks..

As the rest of the meal preparations were made…the marinated Flank Steak smelled heavenly as
it grilled on the open fire and was a teaser that dinner was on it’s way. We feed a few
hundred people very quickly and everyone thought it was a big success!

Whether you are planning a small intimate gathering for family or friends… or need a recipe to feed the five thousand, this Flank Steak is one that will become
your family’s favorite, as well!

Flank Steak

4-5 lbs. flank steak

½ c. vegetable oil
1 c. honey
½ c. vinegar
½ c. soy sauce
1 c. onion, minced
1 tbsp. ginger
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. coarse black pepper

In a bowl, mix all marinade ingredients together.  Pour marinade over steak
in a large Ziploc™ bag.  Marinade for
2 days, rotating often.

Discard marinade. Grill flank steak on medium for 15 minutes, turning
occasionally. Cut on diagonal into thin strips and serve.
