My favorite bagel is the “Everything Bagel” from a certain, someplace. I love them
fresh, with a little plain cream cheese. But my very favorite is the next day,
freshly toasted with cream cheese! Out of this world! I have been
intrigued by the wonderful combination of spices, so I thought I
would do a little experimenting on my own.
It is unclear where exactly this “everything seasoning” was actually created. Two men
from a New York bagel shop claimed they came up with the idea in 1980.
However, there was another New Yorker that claimed he was making the
everything bagel in a factory in the late 1970’s. No matter where it
was invented, I love the combination of flavors that is now being
used not only on bagels, but in hot popcorn, scrambled eggs,
cheese balls, and macaroni-n-cheese.
Below is a recipe to make your own “Everything Seasoning”. Try experimenting with
it. I have loved it on baked or grilled salmon, chicken or steak, grilled veggies,
folded into creamy mashed potatoes, grilled potatoes, hash browns, or mixed
with sour cream for baked potatoes… and the list could go on and on. Mix
some together and store it in the fridge in a small container, sealed
tightly with a lid. You are going to love it!
