Old Fashioned Goodness!

I love dark chocolate and orange flavor together. When I was little, we would
get those boxes of skinny orange sticks. We loved them. But  these cookies are
even better. This is one of my all time favorite cookie recipes. Even though it
takes a little more work to frost each cookie,  you will love each bite as it
melts in your mouth.

Orange Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 c. vegetable shortening
1 c. sugar
3 oz. cream cheese, softened
2 eggs
4 tsp. orange juice
2¼ c. flour
½ tsp. salt
1 c. chocolate chips
3 tsp. grated orange rind

Preheat oven to 350°. Cream together shortening, sugar, cream cheese, eggs and orange
juice. Combine flour and salt; mix thoroughly and stir into creamed mixture. Add chocolate
chips and grated orange rind and mix completely. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls and bake
on a greased jelly roll pan for 10 to 12 minutes.

Orange Cream Frosting

2 c. powdered sugar
3 oz. cream cheese
1 tsp. orange juice
1 tbsp. orange rind

Mix all ingredients together and beat well. Frost cookies.
